I remember being about 5 years old and heading into Sydney city and up to my dads offices high up in one of the skyscrapers. Looking around the office and darkroom and being in a room bathed in red light. It was something that was totally foreign yet felt totally comfortable. He was a photographer for the Australian Information Service traveling constantly shooting reportage and always coming back from exotic locations. Once he went to Fiji for lunch! Obviously it's had some effect on my career's direction.
Photography has always been a part of my life however I never took it seriously until I was about 16. Shooting on black and white film on a Nikon Fe2 and developing in the Laundry darkroom set up by my dad. The smell of fixing chemicals seeping into my lungs until the early hours of the morning. From there I finished school and went straight into a bachelors degree at Griffith Uni.
In the interview for my degree I was asked "Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?". To which I replied "I want to work for The Courier Mail" (Qld's Major Metro). The lecturer then replied "Well I've always thought in 5 years I'd be in Rupert Murdoch's Lear Jet sipping on a martini". Sure enough in 5 years I was working for The Courier Mail... I'm not sure if the lecturer got that Martini.
After University I began working Australia's east coast editorially until finally settling in Melbourne. I've been shooting professionally now for 9 years. My current focus is on fashion & portraiture in advertising. For bookings I'm available for a variety of Clients and Creatives. Please don't hesitate to contact me in regards to smaller shoots or larger high end product.
